So several weeks back Giray and I purchased a 1 week pass to Hot Yoga at The Union (located in Huebner Oaks next to The Flying Saucer). But we never got around to going because I had injured my foot and then a bunch of other excuses that are totally invalid were used. So a couple days ago we FINALLY said LET'S GO! and we got off our butts and went and absolutely LOVED it. When we first walked into the studio the first thing that stuck out was the smell. It's not super pleasant but what can you expect at a place that does hot yoga classes every few hours? lol. Anyway, Giray and I were both like omgosh, will we be smelling this the full hour in a hot and sweaty room?? But then we were immediately greeted by the coach and other employees there who were nothing but extra super friendly and welcoming. They gave us a quick breakdown of what to expect and we walked into the HOT HOT HOTTT yoga room.
The instructor we had for our first class was Lisa or "Leafy" and she was great! Time went by so fast, before I knew it we were doing our last and closing breathing exercise. Let me tell you, I have NEVER in my life sweat as much as I did in this 60 minute class, EVER! Nor has Giray, lol, his shirt was SOAKED....DRENCHED in sweat. But we left the class feeling very relaxed, accomplished and somewhat challenged. Doing these yoga exercises for the first time was difficult (at least for me) and it made me want to do this again and get them right the next time around! haha.
Another great thing about this place is that I never felt out of place or that people were staring because I wasn't balanced 100% or doing the exercises perfectly. Everyone was focused on what we were all there to do, hot yoga.
Overall this was such a great experience for both Giray and I. As for me, I can already tell this is the start of a wonderful journey. It sounds cheesy but yoga has so many awesome benefits, both mentally and physically.
Anyway if you guys are interested in the benefits of hot yoga you can read them here. The pass I purchased was only $20 and it's good for an entire week of unlimited yoga and cross fit in all The Union studios in San Antonio. I highly recommend you guys try this if you haven't already.
(No pictures posted here because who wants to see a sweaty boiled chicken, which is exactly what i looked like during and after the yoga session, lol).
Namaste!
